God designs days uniquely in that each is by far independent from the other. He does this by making it as a balanced package containing items uniquely designed to meet the needs of an individual. They include people, animals, and activities and other things. Among the activities are those which bring Joy ad those which bring sorrow but they are made in a way that they equate one another to make the person in this context grow proportionally.
The sorrows in the package are only meant to be for the single day they are dispensed, though men tend to carry them from day to day. This is the reason why we have many people suffering from stress and anxiety, simply because they have piled up sorrows for different days. They forget that Jesus said that a days sorrow is enough for it and every day cares for itself. By this saying He meant that all the activities presented in a day, which include good and evil, are bound to balance each other and make the person enjoy the day while being fruitful and at the same time learning through endurance.
There are several reasons why people struggle with stress in life and I am going to highlight them here so that we can at least learn how to avoid these problems. I am certain that if those who believe in Jesus follow these words of wisdom they will love life.
What causes stress?
Stress simply comes from piled sorrows powered by anxiety. If any one takes the sorrows of a given day and carries them to the next day, and cumulatively does the same for a week then life starts loosing taste and anxiety takes control. Its power then charges the piled sorrows to produce a wonderful blend called stress. At this point the mind is preoccupied with endless thoughts of the past, the present and the future. Why worry about your past which is gone? Why worry about your future which is to come. It is simply because you put your trust in your self. For this reason you worry of what you will spend on the twentieth day of the next month while you are withdrawing the salary for the previous month.
Is there hope for a better life then?
Jesus came so that you may not worry or struggle to make ends meet. He came so that you may enjoy life to the fullest. He came to provide for each day independently and this is why he gave the example of the manna in the wilderness, where one was not supposed to store for the following day and the example of the birds of the air which do not toil or gather in to barns yet our father feeds them. I am not saying that we do not keep in barns, or gather for the future, but I am saying that we do not have to be anxious about what will happen tomorrow or in the days to come. We should rather put our trust in Jesus. If you trust Jesus to guide every step of your life then you are sure he will take you where he wills and there you shall find enough and surplus for your needs. He said "I am the door for the sheep fold. He who enters by me will go out and find plenty" The problem with man is that they want to tell Jesus where to take them rather that let him take them where he wills. They are oftenly telling him; "Lord I want, I feel, I should" rather than asking him to show them his ways.
Every day should be lived uniquely, unfortunately it's only some rich people who live this kind of life, though they do not know God nor have time for him. They still have the anxiety of who will inherit their property when they die and who will safeguard their children from the people they oppressed to get their riches. They at least keep changing environments every day. They change cars quite often, clothes daily, and houses regularly etc. In this way, life becomes sweet and fulfilling thus presenting hope for a better life.
If you can stop piling sorrows and start living each day uniquely as it is designed by God then you can get the fulfillment. Worrying about your life can not add you a cubit of the same. When you lifetime is expended you just get disconnected and friends start sending in condolence messages with the word (RIP) I feel it should not be RIP any more bit RAP ( Rest as You planned to) Simply because there is no peace in hell where sinners are going. There is great torment and suffering as Jesus highlighted in Luke 16:19.
How then can I avoid stress?
Stress comes in when we pile the sorrows of many days and try to serve them at once. They apparently appear to be like a big mountain which is hard to climb and therefore create fear in us on how to really beat the current challenges and remain relevant. You bear me witness that there was time for each to be dealt with independently but one chose to carry forward! At this stage one will constantly be asking "What if this and this happens, what if this does not happen? And this is what anxiety is all about. Here it is powering the sorrows which came in the form of actions e.g " Last week, they held a meeting and said that one of us had to be fired", Yesterday they said that I was not doing things as desired and today I messed by arriving late". Anxiety comes in this way; "What if am fired, where I will go? Who will pay my bills? What about my husband and children… Dear friend you can find solace if you trust Jesus. All these activities came along to make you trust Jesus for everything and not be worried about the anticipated lay off.
Stress can be easily avoided by doing the following few things
- Do not pile up and carry forward sorrows for different days.
- Live each day uniquely by attending to both the activities presenting Joy and those presenting sorrows.
- Learn to listen and trust God.
- Do not be anxious about a day you have not seen.
Why worry about a day you have not seen. If God gives you life for a given day then food to sustain the life is far much a small thing to him. He can not fail to provide if we trust in him fully. If He gives you a body then He can not fail to supply clothes to cover it. (Mathew 6:25)
Whenever a day ends it's covered with darkness to show that its finished together with its sorrows, just as the day of our sorrow ended on the cross of Jesus with a thick darkness to symbolize the end of the old day and the beginning of a new one. The new day is presented like a plain sheet of a new page; a fresh leaf. I will say this that If we must carry forward sorrows for a given day then we ought to carry forward the same activities which came in the day to help balance and bring Joy In the next day and avoid tampering with its system, though it will mean time usage which would have been spared for joy.
Trust Jesus for the things that you are able to do and the things that you are not able to do. Do not be self confident. Stop worrying about what you will eat, who will marry you, where you will get money to repay the loans, rather have your steps ordained by Jesus. Let him command your walk of life. If he tells you to resign and go back to university do exactly that. Stop worrying of the loans you are paying. Just trust him for he is willing and able to do exceedingly abundantly than you can imagine.
Do not be desperate for anything. I usually say If you are desperate for a husband, there are so many desperate husbands around. The earth is not short of husbands neither is the lord. Forget about the cheating, betrayal, unforgiving character, battering etc and surrender your life to Jesus. He will pick from the wreck you hand over to him and make you someone.
Stop running to anyone you see for advice, stick to the one who you can be sure of to be true and this is the truth of God (Christ Jesus).Understand this that piling up unforgiveness, hart breaking instances, Betrayals and Cheating makes ones life miserable. Avoid carry forwards: Life in Christ is not like life in the world where your tomorrow depends on your today, In Christ tomorrow is independent. It depends on nothing but itself. It's perfectly complete. This is the advantage of being born of God and not of the world.
