Well you did totally nothing to be an enemy of God. Because man disobeyed God and became his enemy, anyone born of woman is born with the sinful nature. This is the reason why a child tends to love evil more than god even as they grow. They tend to love disobedience rather than obedience because the seed of sin which is in their blood and flesh is active.
It grows as they grow, and produces fruit as it matures. It is written in the word of God " Through one mans disobedience: A;ll became sinners" In another place it says " For all have sinned and do not reach the glory of God" So sin came through the disobedience of men.
When the first man Adam was cast out of the garden of Eden, God did not let them go to live alone. He used to watch them. As they increased some of their generation acknowledged him and he chose themas his friends while the others he counted enemies. He Chose a man called Abraham who was faithful with him and opted to take his descedants as his chosen. He gave them laws populary known as the Ten Commandments which they did not keep. In this period all other people were regarded as his enemies since they acknowledge him. Despite being chosen they still broke his law turning to be his enemies until he was fed up with them. Then he got another plan: He decided to destroy sin once and for all. In those days he had given them orders on how to have their sin forgiven. They had to slay a lamb without blemish to cover their sins. This seemed to work only for a short time since they forgot after a day or so. They used to offer repeatedly and so God got a better plan to take away this disobedience once and for all. He brought Christ to die for them so as to wash away their sin and lift the burden of observing written laws.
Now probably one would ask: " I have kept this ten commandmends what more do I need to do?Jesus said: " Love your God with all your heart and all your mind and love your neighbor as you love yourself.
I feel I don't have sin because I do not break the laws why should I go ahead and receive Jesus. Perhaps you can first understand what sin is by reading the next article in the series What is sin?
